Celebrations & Venue Hire
Religious Celebrations
The Abbey Church is particularly beloved as a wedding venue. Couples from all over the world come here to seal the bond of marriage or to celebrate their silver, gold, or even diamond weddings. Many children, too, are welcomed into the community of the faithful here through the sacrament of baptism. Groups of pilgrims also like to use the church for prayers.
The crypt, directly beneath the church, provides a sacred space for smaller celebrations with around 30 seats. Please be aware that the crypt can only be accessed via a number of steps!
We would be delighted to welcome you to hold your celebration in our Abbey Church! To make an appointment, please contact Father Hugo Rafael De Vlaminck.
Baptism
‘You are a child of God!’ This is what the candidate is told during the sacrament of baptism. The application for baptism is made in the candidate’s parish of residence, even if the ceremony will take place here. You can find useful information about the requirements for baptism and the celebration of the sacrament here:

Wedding Anniversaries
A wedding anniversary is a very special celebration. There is a wide range of individual possibilities: for example, you might celebrate your anniversary as part of a Sunday Mass, or on a separate occasion.
Venue Hire
Concerts, meetings, conferences and exhibitions can also be hosted on the premises of the Abbey. Dürnstein Abbey has an imposing Festival Hall offering a splendid view of the Danube and the Wachau Valley. The ceiling fresco was painted by the baroque artist Martin Johann Schmidt, known as ‘Kremser Schmidt’. The hall can accommodate a maximum of 120 guests (with theatre seating). The spacious corridor leading to the Festival Hall can be used for standing receptions with catering on a modest scale.
Directly adjacent are the two Art Society Rooms. Each can accommodate around 50 people with theatre seating. All rooms are located on the first floor and can be accessed via elevator.
